You Don’t Need a Publisher — You Need a Publishing Strategy
This might sound surprising coming from someone who’s been in publishing for decades, but here it is:
Most people don’t need a publisher.
They need a publishing strategy.
Renee was referred to us by one of our long-time clients. Renee had written a children’s book with lovely illustrations and now had 3,000 printed books sitting in boxes in her garage. The first question out of her mouth was, “How do I sell my book?”
You see, Renee was a researcher, not a publishing project manager. Renee thought she was saving money by printing her book herself overseas, where the per-book printing price was lower than in the US. Unfortunately, no one ever explained to her that her book needed editing and that her storyline needed a bit of cleanup to resonate with readers.
In today’s world of print-on-demand, no one needs to buy 3,000 books unless you already have a buyer for those books. We offered Renee some solutions and helped her create a path to sell her books and recoup some of the money she spent.
Before a single word is printed, when you work with us, we’ll have conversations that include:
- Who is this book for?
- What need does it fulfill?
- What role will it play in your business?
- How will it support your brand, credibility, or legacy?
Without answers to those questions, even a beautifully written book will be difficult to sell.
Our Roadmap to Publishing Success program helps you position your book as an A.S.S.E.T.
Authority. Sales. Systems. Exposure. Transformation.
Is your future book designed to sit on a shelf—or to support your business? When a book becomes more than a passion project, it becomes a BUSINESS A.S.S.E.T. Focus on these five components, and it stops being ‘something you wrote’ and starts working for your business.”
If you’re ready to build your book as an A.S.S.E.T., I’d love to talk.
If this resonates with you and you’d like to learn more, schedule time on my calendar for a conversation.
I’d love to hear more about you and your book idea.
